The Applied Behavior Academy was founded with a clear mission: to transform lives through ethical, individualized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) education and support. Built on a strong academic foundation and over a decade of experience in the field, the academy reflects a deep commitment to quality training and community empowerment within the ABA profession.

The vision for The Applied Behavior Academy emerged in response to a troubling trend within the field—passionate, capable practitioners leaving due to a lack of mentorship, ethical leadership, and structured professional development. This loss affects the workforce but also compromises the quality of care delivered across settings.

Industry data highlights this ongoing challenge. A 2019 study published in Behavior Analysis in Practice reported annual turnover rates for direct ABA care staff ranging from 30% to 75%, with lack of supervision and professional development among the top reasons for leaving (Molko & Durand, 2019). Similarly, the 2020 US Behavior Analyst Workforce report found that nearly 45% of behavior technicians left their roles within the first year, often due to limited career support.

The Applied Behavior Academy was created to address these gaps—especially when formal education and employer systems fall short. While the Academy does not provide direct ABA therapy services, it serves as a growing resource for high-quality training, consultation, and Continuing Education Units (CEUs). These offerings are designed to support professionals, paraprofessionals, and caregivers who are committed to ethical, client-centered ABA.
 

Now in its early stages, The Applied Behavior Academy is laying a foundation for long-term impact. Currently, the Academy offers:

• Self-paced professional development asynchronous CEU events focused on ethical and applied topics

• Consultation services for caregivers, educators, and small clinics seeking behaviorally-informed guidance
   

Looking ahead, the Academy aspires to expand into:

• A parent and caregiver training library to support skill development at home

• Workshops for educators, healthcare providers, and law enforcement on developmental delay and behavioral needs

• A community for neurodivergent individuals, promoting self-advocacy, independence, and professional opportunities

• A registry of Academy-trained professionals, connecting clinics with ethically grounded, well-prepared providers

• Behavioral systems consultations for classrooms and organizations seeking inclusive, skill-based solutions

• Full on Excellence Academy Courses (3-5 month commitment). 
   

The grand opening on April 20, 2025, marked a significant milestone in this vision. The Academy welcomes learners, collaborators, and supporters to join the journey.
